Gite de Pechine offers quality accommodation (see details below) and is perfect for exploring the French Pyrenees mountains, has easy access for Carcassonne & Toulouse, and is perfectly placed to explore the Midi Pyrenees region as a whole.  Pechine is an excellent base for walking, skiing, cycling, including following the Tour de France 2009 in the Midi Pyrenees.  Pechine is an eco-friendly family farm beautifully located in the foothills of the Pyrenees on a ridge overlooking the high mountains, surrounded by rolling countryside.  Extensive gardens offer seclusion plus areas of fun & play.  You can enjoy walks & bird watching direct your door.  We can help you have a relaxing yet energising holiday, from yoga or a Spa day to exciting outdoor adventure activities.  There is abundant wildlife to watch and enjoy, both locally (Hoopoe, Wild Boar, Stags, Egyptian Vultures) and in the vast yet accessible wilderness of the high Pyrenees mountains.  If you are seeking some rest and to 'get away from it all', then you can just sit back, and enjoy the peace and beauty of the Ariege Midi-Pyrenees. 

Our accommodation is all newly renovated to a high standard providing a spacious, airy 2 bedroom gite that can sleep 6 plus 2 rooms for B&B with a separate guest lounge.  All our accommodation benefits from central heating and free Wi-Fi is available plus satellite television.  Our holiday accommodation can be rented as one large gite which can sleep 10, perfect for 2 families.  In the summer we have an above ground 5 metre 'splash' pool.

We have our own friendly farm animals in the fields next to Pechine.  We grow our own organic vegetables and salad which we provide with our 3 course local cuisine evening meals.  Our chickens can provide eggs on request. We have 2 children, so Pechine is well equipped for the little ones, though there is enough room to find your own space and piece of tranquillity.

 

We are close to shops, fresh bread and pastries, pizza, local cuisine restaurants and a quality Vietnamese (to eat in or takeaway) is 8 minutes away.  There are some wonderful farmers' markets within our area, offering wonderful organic produce and well priced unique art of the Midi Pyrenees region.  Highly recommended top quality restaurants are within a few minutes drive.  Locally you can also visit fortified medieval villages, swimming lakes, a giant cave (see right), animals parks and an excellent tree climbing adventure park.  Cosmopolitan Toulouse is less than an hour away, as are the high Pyrenees mountains.

The large 70 sq meter first floor apartment at Pechine is a new conversion, sympathetic to the traditional old farmhouse and built to a very high standard.  There are two spacious bedrooms, one with a double bed, the other with twin beds, a large living/kitchen/dining room with a comfortable sofa bed, and a full bathroom.  The kitchen is fully equipped with a cooker, fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine.  The living room has a television with UK 'Freeview' and a DVD player.  Outside there are several seating areas including a terrace directly by the door to the apartment.  There is a BBQ available for the use of guests.   During the summer, the 5 metre above ground pool is ideal for children to play and even swim in and for adults to cool down!  A new deck area, which we are particularly pleased with, offers shade and beautiful views to the mountains.  There is also a full-size table tennis table, darts and other games/toys available.  Your children can also share the 'Alpine' playhouse.

There is a small selection of DVDs and books available to borrow.

We also offer Wi-Fi connection and secure parking/storage for bicycles and motorbikes.

Child/baby equipment is available on request.  The apartment is fitted with a stair gate, travel cot, smoke alarm and fire extinguisher.

A welcome basket, containing the essentials is provided for your arrival.  Various optional extras are available on request, including babysitting, drop-off/pick-up for walks, breakfast delivery, arrival supper, picnic hampers, shopping in advance, pool/beach towels – please just ask!   

The apartment is non-smoking.   Sorry, no pets (not even ours!).

Prices are fully inclusive of linen, bathroom towels and electricity (except winter/long-term lets).

Outside High Season we are happy to accept shorter lets (2 nights min) and arrival days other than Sat. 

Special prices available for weekend breaks.

Please contact us about possible long-term lets during the winter and also 'House Searching' trips  - we have a very comfortable and well placed centre for investigating the Midi- Pyrenees and we are more than happy to pass on our recent experience and advice.
